She's my favorite makeup artist. He's my favorite videographer. They're hilarious, adorable, and met online as teenagers when Matt managed an Alicia Keys fan page that Stacey participated in. I mean, I feel like I can no longer ask couples how they met because this ones wins of all time. Like forever. Matt was in the UK at the time and Stacey in Southern California, but they maintained an online friendship off and on until they had the chance to meet in person several years later. And two years ago, they married in Matt's home country at the beautiful Lympne Castle in Kent, England. Talk about a dream...
To celebrate their anniversary this month, Stacey and Matt asked Kelsey and me to come on a date with them to the Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs on a hot and beautiful July evening to document the occasion. Oh, how I loved this! I think there is a notion that professional photos with your love are limited to your engagement and wedding day. But married life is pretty amazing and deserves the attention. I couldn't imagine a better way to celebrate their anniversary than to follow them on a date.
I'm pretty sure every engagement/anniversary shoot should be like this. Get dolled up, jump around on hotel beds, make friends with the pool bartender, make out, and frolic the heat. It's not stiff, overly formal, or anything that it shouldn't be. Just a husband and wife dating each other and me getting to document the little details that make marriage so, so, good. Because when my husband and I are old and gray, there is likely nothing I wouldn't give to have photos of a date night from when we were young.
Special thanks to the lovely staff at the Colony Palms Hotel who were extremely kind and awesome. Looking forward to my next visit and jumping into that pool.
